History

About ten years ago, after 27 years in IT and electronic engineering, our MD, Alden Möller decided to have a change of pace.

He decided to buy a coffee shop, but he ended up with a chain of five women’s fashion boutiques called Icing. Little did he realise that fashion was not for the faint hearted! Running a business in today’s competitive climate requires amongst many things the right tools.

Icing was using financial systems and point-of-sale software that was written more than 25 years ago and not suitable anymore. This same end-of-life and similar software is still being sold in South Africa by unscrupulous vendors.

After extensive unsuccessful searching for software, Alden found himself back into the IT realm by writing software for his own business. Icing urgently needed decent point-of-sale, up to the minute reporting and business analysis to give key information to help in making prudent decisions. A point-of-sale was the first product which slowly developed into a full featured product. The product developed rapidly simply because Alden was back in his element and had plenty of feedback from his own stores.

During this time, other traders heard of Alien or saw it running during visits. Interest was high and many asked if they could try it. Alden gave Alien for free to whoever wanted it. The word spread quickly and so Alien became a business before he realised it!

Today, after almost 8 years of development, Alien has become a fully fledged product serving a host of industries and helping many businesses stay ahead in the tough economic climate.

Our Team

Alden Möller Managing Director Has over 28 years experince in Electronic engineering and IT and holds a degree in software engineering. For the past 18 years most of this time has been spent on payment systems, retail systems and web related businesses. After buying his own retail business Alden realised that there was a serious need for software that can manage today's complicated economic environment which retailers face.

	Amien Parker Admin and Finance Amien has 15 years office administration and bookkeeping experience and holds diplomas in Pastel Evolution Bookkeeping and Business Management. Amien has been involved in the integration of Alien Software and Pastel Evolution and is also responsible for the daily running of the Alien Software Accounts Department.

	Denzil Benjamin IT Department Denzil graduated from IT Intellect and has been with Alien Software since. Being a shining star in the Alien family, he quickly became responsible for all aspects of customer training and support. His functions also includes web site management and Development of Alien Software.
